Meet the 2025-26 President鈥檚 Ambassadors
Lillian Wakefield
Business and sport management double major
Wooster, Ohio
Graduation year: 2028
Why did you choose Bluffton?
I chose Bluffton because it was the university I felt the most welcome at. I appreciated the connections I made with people each time I was on campus and the handwritten letters I received after my visit. In fact, I made my final decision because of a handwritten letter from Coach Shutler saying I was welcome to come play here.
Why did you choose your major? Are your classes helpful?
I was originally planning to come to college undecided, but through very helpful discussions with professors and advisors I was able to determine the best plan for me was to double major in Business and Sport Management. I believe my classes have been extremely helpful. After only one year, I have already learned so much both about material that relates to my fields of study and about myself.
What type of job do you want following graduation? What are your career goals?
While I don鈥檛 know the exact position I want to go into after graduation, I do know I would like to go into the business field. I think I would enjoy a 鈥渢ypical 9-5鈥 type job. I like the idea of the structure it provides. Career goal wise, I think I would like to be able to work my way up from an entry level position to a more management type position.
Tell us about Bluffton鈥檚 faculty, staff, and coaches. Are they helping you reach your goals?
I love the faculty, staff, and coaches here at Bluffton. They are always more than willing to help you with any issues that arise. I appreciate the way they treat us students with kindness and respect. I am grateful for the support they provide. They are most definitely helping me reach my goals, in addition to helping me find out what goals even are.
What student organizations are you part of? Why is it important for you to be active on campus?
I am apart of Delight, and I sing at chapel. I also attend many intramural events, some I participate in, some I just watch. I like being active on campus because I find our events fun, but I also think it is important to be active to support the sense of community we have here at Bluffton. It is also important for Presidents Ambassadors to be active on campus to give prospective students a good sense of what campus life is like.
Are you a student-athlete? If so, which sport do you play and what is the best part of being on a team at Bluffton?
I am part of our women鈥檚 basketball team here at Bluffton. The best part of being on a team at Bluffton is getting to be part of a built-in friend group. While the girls on the team may not get along 24/7, in the end we are all there to come together, play basketball, and have a good time. I have made some amazing friends and amazing memories.
Is there anything else about being a student at Bluffton that you would like to share?
Being a student at Bluffton has been one of the most fun times of my life so far. From slip-n-sliding down Bren-Dell to singing at chapel or just having a movie night with my friends, I never stop having a good time. The classes here push me to learn and grow while not drowning me in an unmanageable workload.
