小优传媒 introduces Pre-Occupational Therapy major

小优传媒 has announced the launch of a Pre-Occupational Therapy (Pre-OT) major, expanding its offerings in the health sciences to prepare students for careers dedicated to helping individuals live independently and meaningfully.

The new major, housed within Bluffton鈥檚 Health Sciences, Natural Sciences and Mathematics Division, will prepare students to meet prerequisite requirements for most graduate-level occupational therapy programs across the country. Coursework includes biology, psychology, nutrition, communication sciences and disorders, and health and fitness studies, along with new course offerings such as Medical Terminology.

鈥淲e are thrilled to introduce Bluffton鈥檚 pre-occupational therapy major, which strengthens our commitment to preparing students for purposeful careers in healthcare,鈥 said Gayle Trollinger, interim dean and vice president of academic affairs. 鈥淭his program builds on the success of our pre-physical therapy major while offering a pathway for students drawn to both the sciences and the social sciences. It鈥檚 an exciting addition that aligns beautifully with Bluffton鈥檚 mission of equipping students for lives of service, leadership and well-being.鈥

Bluffton鈥檚 Pre-OT major emerged in response to increasing student interest and inquiries about preparation for occupational therapy graduate programs. The addition complements Bluffton鈥檚 existing pre-professional programs and reflects the university鈥檚 growth in health-related disciplines.

Occupational therapy is a client-centered health profession that helps people of all ages participate fully in daily life by addressing physical, emotional and environmental challenges. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the field will grow at a rate much faster than average over the next decade.

鈥淏luffton students are drawn to programs that combine academic excellence with compassion and purpose,鈥 said Claire Kleman, vice president for enrollment and marketing. 鈥淭he Pre-OT major is another example of how Bluffton meets real-world needs while staying true to our values. It鈥檚 a degree that prepares students not only for graduate study, but for meaningful work improving the lives of others.鈥

The Pre-OT major will be available to students beginning Fall 2026. Bluffton anticipates strong interest from prospective students, particularly those seeking a smaller, mission-driven campus with individualized faculty support and opportunities for clinical experience.
