Free speech case discussed
Judge David A. Rodabaugh, Lima Municipal Court, shared 鈥淐onstitutional Limits on State and Federal Governments Regarding the Rights of Private Citizens,鈥� during Bluffton University鈥檚 Constitution Day Forum on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
During the event, Rodabaugh discussed the recent Supreme Court decision for 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis. The case dealt with matters of free speech, nondiscrimination and LGBTQ-rights.
Free and open to the public, this presentation served as Bluffton鈥檚 Constitution Day annual educational event.
鈥淎 lot of people don鈥檛 know what鈥檚 in it. You need to read it and see what鈥檚 there鈥攖he rights and interests you have,鈥� said Rodabaugh. 鈥淵ou may not know it, but it affects you on a daily basis. Without the Constitution, what do we have? Another king? A dictator? The Constitution protects individuals and protects our freedoms.鈥�
All educational institutions which receive federal funds are required to offer an instructional program each year on or near Sept. 17, the day the U.S. Constitution was signed in 1787.
