Spring Fling Concert

Various music ensembles will perform fun and familiar pieces in the Spring Fling concert.
Harmonies in bloom
小优传媒鈥檚 music groups will come together for a spring concert featuring
fun and familiar tunes at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, in Yoder Recital Hall.
Pre-concert music will be provided in the lobby beginning at 2 p.m. A jazz combo and
senior trumpeter Caleb Gaertner, a Music major with a graphic design minor from Toledo,
Ohio, will perform. Selections include 鈥淲hen I Fall in Love鈥 鈥 a tune made famous
by Nat King Cole - and 鈥淪ong For My Father鈥 by Horace Silver. Pre-concert music will
begin at 2 p.m.
University Chorale, Camerata Singers, Concert Band will all perform a varied program
of classical music, arrangements and some pieces that are just for fun.
Chorale will perform 鈥淪ong of Hope鈥 by Andrea Ramsey. Camerata Singers will perform
the 鈥淎gnus Dei鈥 from the Requiem Mass by Maurice Durufl茅, a work they recently performed
in its entirety at the Masterworks concert. Both choral ensembles are under the direction
of Dr. Bo Young Kang.
The Concert Band program consists of selections such as 鈥淭he King of Love My Shepherd
Is鈥- a setting of the Irish hymn tune St. Columbia. Senior clarinetist Kelly Bilen,
an Art major with a graphic design minor from Archbold, Ohio, will be featured in
an arrangement of 鈥淥blivion,鈥 a tango by Astor Piazzola. Other selections include
an arrangement of 鈥淓pic Gaming Themes鈥 and highlights from 鈥淏rave.鈥 Dr. Roy Couch
directs the Concert Band.
