Annual peace lecture

Sarah Augustine, co-founder and executive director of the Coalition for Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery, will present 小优传媒鈥檚 annual Keeney Peace Lecture Forum on March 26.

The 11 a.m. presentation in 小优传媒鈥檚 Yoder Recital Hall is titled, 鈥淪o We and Our Children May Live.鈥

During the event, the climate activist and Pueblo descendant invites consideration of indigenous wisdom for faithful ecological solutions beyond the economic and cultural systems responsible for the current climate crisis.

Prior to the lecture, Augustine will discuss, 鈥淪o We and Our Children May Live: Following Jesus in Confronting the Climate Crisis,鈥 a book she wrote with 1984 Bluffton alumnus Sheri Hostetler, at three events.

  • First Mennonite Church, 10:30 a.m., Sunday, March 24
  • Lima Mennonite Church, 6:30 p.m., Sunday, March 24
  • The Lion and Lamb Peace Arts Center, 7 p.m., Monday, March 25

Bluffton鈥檚 Keeney Peace Lectureship was established in 1978 by the family of William Sr. and Kathryn Keeney to express appreciation for Bluffton鈥檚 influence and to strengthen the continuing peace witness among the community.

Forum provides a public space for interdisciplinary discovery about the personal, local and global challenges faced by students, faculty, staff and the Bluffton community.

These events are free and open to the public.
